Vodafone are once again the title sponsors of the 5th edition of The (Vodafone) Malta Television Awards.  This was confirmed during a press conference held on Monday, 20 December at Black Pearl, Ta' Xbiex.  Ms Marie Vella Galea, Vodafone's brand manager commented, "This is the second consecutive year that Vodafone is sponsoring The Malta Television Awards. Through these awards, Vodafone has the opportunity to support local talent this time in TV broadcasting. Supporting Local Talent is paramount for Vodafone hence we wanted to invest in this initiative."

Noelene Miggiani, director of Mermaid Media Entertainment Ltd., further announced that most of last year's partners had confirmed their sponsorship of this year's Awards. She continued that although the framework is strong, every year there is scope for improvement which are usually prompted by new circumstances.  The Rules & Regulations have been updated with a clause stating that; " In the incidence of two television stations winning the same number of awards on Awards Night, the award will be presented to both stations."Individuals, production houses and television stations who will be submitting their work in anticipation of being awarded the Silver Mermaid, have till Friday, 14 January 2011 to do so. Nominees will be announced on Friday, 11 February at the Black Pearl, Ta' Xbiex followed by Awards Night on Saturday 19 February 2011.  The Mediterranean Conference Centre will this year host Awards Night.

Airport Impressions, the eight time local award winning act will be the special guests at The Vodafone MALTA Television Awards 2011 performing a vast selection of songs from their repertoire in what promises to be a unique format and a memorable night. The incumbent best band recipients had a clean sweep at this year’s prestigious BAY MUSIC AWARDS thanks to the thousands who voted through smses. 2010 was a busy year for Airport Impressions where they have just released their highly awaited album ‘Minutes of a Lifetime`, featuring a collection of 12 tracks ranging from alternative to pop rock, and soulful melodies .It also includes the massive hit which was also awarded best song of 2010 released earlier this year ‘Walk with Me` and a re-mastered album version of the hit single and best song for 2009 "Borderline".

Vascas, once again, will be sponsoring the coveted statuette and Island Caterers are again planning a night to remember on Awards Night. Black Pearl which is now under new management, has joined the Awards organisation and will be hosting Nominations Night on Friday, 11 February 2011.
