The Directors of The Malta Television Awards today announced that, following the disagreement surrounding this year's event, the board of Directors decided to postpone Awards Night by a few months.
The organisers confirmed that they will immediately be working towards appointing a special board made up of representatives from each and every local television stations to be chaired by a competent person chosen by the special board. The boards mission will be to iron out issues between all parties. This will ensure, once again, the credibility of the organisers who emphasised its importance in the past years.
The Board of Directors were disappointed at how PBS reacted. They believe that the decision taken by PBS to stay out of The Malta Television Awards does not merit the reason why such a decision had been taken. PBS had insisted on the organisers to introduce Best Fashion Programme when this genre was already listed under Best Lifestyle programme. The organisers felt that this would be unnecessary since the list of categories was already quite long and the inclusion of this new category would only be of benefit to a particular producer.
The organisers confirm that following various meetings with PBS, compromises were reached on many points brought forward by PBS except for the inclusion of Best Fashion Programme.
The Directors of The Malta Television awards would like to show their appreciation to the many people in the television industry who remained loyal to the organisation including the sponsors whose support remained strong throughout the ordeal. The Directors most satisfying moment in this situation is the amount of submissions received by closing date on Friday, amounting to two hundred and seventy (270) submissions.
