The category for Best Cameraman in The Vodafone Malta Television Awards, will be split in two categories, one honouring scripted camerawork and another awarding unscripted camerawork.  This decision was announced by the organisers following recommendations by consultants and members of the judging panel.

Submissions in this category were viewed and analysed.  Those carrying work filmed under the guidance of a director have been grouped and listed under the category Best Scripted Camerawork. Other material submitted which required the cameraperson to act without direction or a script will be judged under the new category Best Unscripted Camerawork.  This means that this year there will be two camerpersons receiving an award.  The directors of Mermaid Media Entertainment Ltd, organisers of this year's The Vodafone Malta Television Awards said that although it was against their wish to increase the number of awards given on Awards Night, these two particular, new categories now make better technical sense.
